Roosters Yankee. A sublime start to a Leeds crawl at my pub of the day (& week) Duck and Drake

    Arkells 3B

For some it would be a well named beer (boring brown bitter) but it was absolutely superb and the best beer of the week by some way.

Well, for two weeks running, it has to be Goacher's 'danger juice', the Old 1066 Ale (abv 6.7%)...

Very average week with a couple of highlights and a couple of beers I would never normally go any where near (no prizes), all for the cause of ticking a couple of new pubs.
    Darkstar Hophead
    Darkstar Hophead Dry
    Hop Art Red Cap
    St Austell Proper Job
    Sharps Doom Bar
    Greene King IPA

Botw is Hophead Dry, not their best ever Hophead special but got better the more you had, pushed hard though by the Proper Job.

A modest week but not a Xmas beer in sight!

    Rooster's Yankee 4.3%*
    Loddon Ferryman's Gold 4.4%
    Titanic Stout 4.5%*
Caledonian Double Dark Oatmeal Stout 4.6%
    Village Old Raby 4.8%
    Dark Star Original 5.0%
    Long Dog Lamplight Porter 5.0%
Caledonian / Baird Rising Sun Pale Ale 5.5%*
    Greene King Abbot Reserve 6.5%
    Langham Aegir 7.5%*

The three contenders are the Titanic Stout, The Spoons International Rising Sun and the Langham Aegir all tried in JDWs. The Rising Sun deserves a mention as it;s the best thing I've had from Caledonian for years. I caught a fresh cask on Friday and it was excellent. The Langham Aegir was a real bonus at the uninspiring Tilly Shilling at Farnborough for £3.05. It's a smoky strong black porter that made the dull surrounds melt away. The winner is the Titanic Stout. I have to say I prefer either of their stouts to the Plum Porter simply because I could never imagine knocking back two quick pints of it as I did with the stout on Friday after returning to base camp. I'll still go for a pint of it but much prefer the stout. It's on the current Spoon's guest list so I hope to find more of it.

    The top of the Downs:
    Hopdaemon-Skrimshander IPA: 4.5%abv Reassuring Kentish IPA;peppery,refreshing.
    Hopdaemon-Golden Braid:3.7%abv Great condition.Pale.Nettles and bitter herbs.
I would normally prefer the Skrim, but the Braid was top notch and my BOTW, taken at The Bowl Inn
