The Colliers Arms near St Helens looks like a nice pub. And an easy day trip from Reading, too.

I assume that latter part of the sentence is sarcasm!

Doh! - my visit to the Ring o[f] Bells (in Norton Fitzwarren) was last year, so wouldn't be shown, and I looked for the Aldershot JDW under Queens instead of Queen.

That Monday Feeling coming up over me...

I've merged the 13 "Ring of Bells" into the "Ring o Bells" listing.

Are Queen and Queens different names? Should they be merged Quinno?

    Cheers Dave

Personally, I would say yes for merging Queens/Queen (and in case anyone thinks I'm trying to make my life easier rather than the list more robust, I'd point out I have done both already!).

Whilst we're on the subject...(and I have your attention )

Following similarish logic, King William IV is listed on the Challenge but not William IV (eg William IV) but as they refer clearly to the same person, perhaps they should be merged as well?

As a tinker, you managed to merge the Cricketers and Cricketers Arms (which makes sense). The same is probably required for Foresters/Foresters Arms and County/County Arms, for consistency (there are probably others that don't appear in the 250 currently, eg Butchers/Butchers Arms). It's an odd one - mainly down to keeping the Kings/Queens Arms and Heads separate debate! Without those, Arms would probably be in the suffix exclusion list...? In fact, perhaps that's easier to do whilst keep Queen And King out of the condition?)

And as a neat segue to finish (it's one other thing from a while ago that got missed) can 'cafe' be added to the prefix/suffix exclusion list please?

Many thanks for keeping this list tended-to!

    Cheers

...and then there are Forresters as well (two Rs in the middle).

The Albert was named after Albert Royds, a famous local dignitary (there's still a Royds Arms in Rochdale as well)

The brewery kept trying to put up a pub sign with a picture of Prince Albert on it (two separate occasions by the same brewery)
    to great local outcry.

As they're both closed it wouldn't affect things anyway, but it's not as simple as just presuming Quinno.

Heh a good point well-made, to be fair.

With King William IV/William IV it's nailed-on, but for the rest there is indeed a small % chance that it might just refer to someone else. So I'll take that advice and amend the above.
