    Default Southampton

    Hi all,

Heading to Southampton soon for an overnighter. Any must do's ?

I have been told about the Dancing Man brewery ( at the Wool Mill) .

Any suggestions ( the good, the bad and the ugly !) gratefully recieved.

    Cheers,

    Del.

Don't waste your time in the centre, head to St Denys station and absolutely do

    The Guide Dog

    South Western Arms

    Also Junction Inn is decent.

Wasn't mad keen on The Rockstone when I went but others (more recently) disagree

Hi Del - I think Quinno has nailed the essential pubs, but there is a new bar which you might be interested in, not unreasonably far from the station or ground.

    Sadler’s Brewhouse and Barbecue

It's run by the Sadlers Brewery, from your neck of the woods I believe, and I've heard a few good things, so might be worth a punt.

Sadlers Brewery is about 10 minutes from me ( by car ). I never knew they ran a pub in Southampton - seems an odd choice for the only pub outside the Lye !! Perhaps my Black Country accent will be understood in there ?

I liked the Wellington Arms, but is in opp direction to others suggested.
The Red Lion is something of a must for historic interior
Waterloo Arms is worth a trip if you like Hopback beers
