    Pedestrian week.

Mondo -- James Brown Ale *
    Mondo -- Pale Rider *
Oakham -- Owl and the Pussy Cat *
    Roosters -- Yankee

I enjoyed both Mondo brews but BOTW goes to Oakham Owl and the Pussy Cat a spoons festival ale taken in the Six Templars (known locally as the Six Asbos ),Hertford.A faintly sweet nose and none of the trademark Oakham citrus hit but a very deep ,bitter finish I hope Oakham add this to their regular range.

Next week end of month sessions with more Oakham in The Mansion House, which no doubt will prove an expensive evening, hope it's worth it.

Out saving pubs and enjoying it.

Minimalistic is the best way to describe the week.
    Darkstar Hophead*
    Darkstar Green Hopped IPA*
    Palmers Captain Hardy
Don't like Palmer's beers generally, this one was drinkable without the particular twang I dislike, but one was enough.
BOTW has to be Darkstar Green Hopped IPA, simply top notch. Hophead was also in with a shout.

beers from 4 new breweries for me on Friday but nowt special. They were Bexley-Worthy-Exit 33 and Oddessey breweries. But BOTW was found in the fridge at Porterhouse Convent Gdn.Didn't check the price as I fancied something different for a change.
Porterhouse -Devils Half Acre 13.5 a barrel aged black ipa. superb and only £3.00 a bottle (if that was the correct price I will be having some more next time I pass by)

The Spoons fest continues and a trip to Calderdale provides a decent list :-

    Caledonian Rare Red Rye 3.9%
Brewster's Et Citra Et Citra 4.0%*
    JW Lees Drayman's Reward 4.1%*
    Goose Eye Chinook Blonde 4.2%
    Hop Studio Porter 4.3%
Caledonian Flying Dutchman Spiced Ale 4.4%
    Hook Norton Easy Weasel 4.5%
Oakham Owl and the Pussycat 4.5%*
    Worsthorne Old Trout 4.5%
    Wychwood Nordic Noir 4.5%
    Evan Evans Cennen 4.6%
Shepherd Neame Fork & Brewer Low Blow 4.7%*
    Green Jack Rising Sun 4.8%
    Windswept APA 5.0%
    Maxim John Bull Stout 5.0%
Hook Norton Fat Head's Yakima Sun 5.0%*
    Belhaven Old Gold 5.0%
    Wadworth Cooper's Vice 5.0%
    Titanic 7 C's 5.0%
    Woodforde's Tap & Go 5.0%
    Rooster's Nectar 5.2%*
    Truman's 1883 Export Pale Ale 5.4%
    Brodie's Jamaican Stout 5.4%*
    Exmoor Gold Export 5.5%*
    Wadworth Minagof Smoked Porter 5.5%*
    Southwark Harvard APA 5.5%*
Greene King New Horizons IPA 6.0%*
    Elland 1872 Porter 6.5%*
Banks's Central City Red Racer IPA 6.5%*
    Springhead Double Jeopardy 7.5%*

There;s about half a dozen in there that could win it so I'll exclude the Red Racer as it was last week's one and the 1872 can go as I've voted it a BOTW more than once before (I think).
I'm going to have to go for the Springhead Double Jeopardy which was in perfect nick at Calan's micropub in Hebden Bridge for just £3.00 which is the price of all ales regardless of strength.
It's an old school strong pale ale that is dangerously drinkable.

    Very quiet week.

    Fernandes - Half Nelson.
    Crouch Vale - Brewers Gold.

    A dabble at 'Spoons:

Fork and Brewer Low Blow (at Shepherd Neame)
    Flying Dutchman Spiced Ale (Caledonian)*
    Woodforde's Tap and Go
    Purity UBU
    Oakham Bishops Farewell*
    Salopian Propoganda*

The Spiced Ale was an ideal Autumn beer and in another week would have won out.
BOTW though was Salopian Propoganda. Pale and interesting at 5% it's packed with hops which create a tropical fruit aroma and flavour to a degree. There wasn't a consensus as to which tropical fruit but both pomegranate and mango were mentioned. Whichever it was the three pint test was passed with ease.

    Isfield-Dr Rudi's Summer Ale 3.6%abv :Spicy,lemony.Not much condition.
Hobden's Wessex-Stourton Pale Ale 3.5%abv:Pale gold. Floral hops.A proper beer for Sunday lunch.I think the "Hobden's" epithet might be redundant.
Hobden's Wessex-Kilmington Best 4.2%abv : Decent traditional best bitter. Reassuring.

    My BOTW-Wessex Stourton Pale Ale.
