    Norfolk and Suffolk

Frustratingly, the pubs that claimed to offer guest beers in addition to Wherry and Adnams probably only do so during the summer:interesting beers were thin on the ground in rural Norfolk. Fortunately I am not adverse to either of these, but they are available in Kent.

Panther-Honey Panther-4%abv: Golden ale:intensively infused with honey. Not really to my taste.
Woodforde's-Wherry-3.8%abv: Nettley and earthy, varying from excellent to good.
    Woodeforde's-Once Bittern-4.1%abv-Decent rich malt,autumnal fruit.
Adnam's-Southwold Bitter-3.7%abv-Unimpeacheable, but not a patch on how it was in the 70's.
    Adnam's -Ghost Ship-4.5%abv-Tropical fruits 'n' nettles.
Adnam's-Broadside-4.7%abv:Not really my favourite Adnams beer, but tried for old time's sake.Raisins.
Oakham-Citra-4.2%abv:It's taken me a while to appreciate this pale 'un. Grapefruit and nettles.
St Peter's Brewery-Best Bitter-3.7%abv:On gravity dispense from behind the bar.Mid brown, malt based, but with hedgerow fruit. A classic Bitter,as deep as the Moat outside. Taken at St Peters Hall
Redwell-Bullards No 3-4.7%abv: American Amber ale. .A good dryish bittersweet malty amber ale, from a trendy craft brewery that has acquired the name of a classic Norwich brewery closed by Grotneys.Taken at http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/58710/My BOTW. A close run thing with the Ghost Ship, but I'd spent the week looking for new beers.

A brief visit to Coventry to bag the Spoons plus a day in the Kidderminster area gave some good beers

RAT Rat In Me Kitchen 4.0%*
    Portobello Home Turf Pale 4.2%
    Slaughterhouse Pacific Pale 4.2%*
    Batham's Best 4.3%*
    North Cotswold Shagweaver 4.5%
    Salopian Lemon Dream 4.5%*
    Portobello Market Porter 4.6%*
    Backyard IPA 5.0%
    Hawkshead Cumbrian Five Hop 5.0%*
    Bewdley Worcestershire Sway 5.0%*
    Caledonian Por La Playa 5.0%
    Lionheart Dark Ruby 5.5%*
    Fownes Dwarven Experimental 5.6%*
    Marston's Old Empire 5.7%*
Dorset Brewing Co. Jurassic Dark 5.9%
    Greene King Abbot Reserve 6.5%*
    Sadler's Mud City Stout 6.6%*

It comes to a choice of Batham's Best at one of their two rural pubs, the Mud City Stout at two of the Coventry Spoons and the RAT Rat In Me Kitchen at the Post Office Vaults in Brum.
I'm going for the RAT Rat In Me Kitchen (£3.40) which surprisingly was the lowest ABV. It was an excellent hoppy final pint before getting the train back to London.

A tale of only three beers this week, although copious amounts of the chosen ones,
    Darkstar Hophead*
    Darkstar Green Hopped IPA*
    Timothy Taylor Landlord

Much like London Callings thoughts theGreen Hopped IPA is really good and easily BOTW.

    Quiet week:

    Frog Island Natterjack
    Blue Monkey Junior Ape*

The Natterjack was a quite different beer to the one I remember being pale and balanced rather than dark and malty. Not bad but I don't think that it was in the best nick.
BOTW Blue Monkey Junior Ape very good although not quite as good as the Oakham Bishops Farewell which it has replaced for now.

An excellent week for me, with virtually every beer a winner and in tip-top condition.

    Great Heck - Citra.*
    Rat - Ratatouille.
    Rat - White Rat.*
    Great Heck - Cleveland Brown.*
    Bridestones - Coffee Porter.*
    Blackwater (Salopian) - Voodoo.*
    Cottage - Pacific.
    Tigertops - Monument.*
    Great Heck - Treasure IPA.
    Great Heck - Shankar IPA.*
    Titanic - Plum Porter.*
    Mallinsons - Nelson Sauvin.
    Fernandes - Black Cherry Porter.*
Rat - Number of the Rat.*
    Fernandes - Yorkshire Tinker.

Very difficult to choose this week. The Citra and Plum Porter were both stunning, but as they've both been nominated several times previously, I'll go for the Voodoo. It's another classy golden ale from Salopian, brewed under their experimental label Blackwater.

A previous BOTW for me also. I love Rat Brewery beers, their hit rate is very high. Usually have at least a couple of theirs every week on my travels.

A very modest week ,small crawl around Biggleswade.

    Adnam's -- Southwold Bitter
Humpty Dumpty -- Red Mill *
Leighton Buzzard -- Rebel Yell Black IPA*
Greene King -- XX MILD *
    Sadler's -- One Stop Hop*

BOTW was a surprise to me in the shape of Greene King XX MILD which was beautifully dry and flavoursome for a 3% and held it's own again a barrage of hoppy ales beforehand. In great nick in The New Inn,Biggleswade and the flavour was still evident on the train home.Class ,to coin a Soupy term.

Next week a revisit to Rugby and Braunston, centre of the midlands canal system.
