I think it's a revised recipe to the one from nearly twenty years ago. I had a couple in their Aldershot tied house earlier this year and thought exactly the same.

I've been to five Harvey's pubs this week of which three were completely new to me so I'm feeling all Harveyed out:-

    Hall & Woodhouse K&B Sussex Bitter 3.5%
Harvey's Best 4.0%* (* for the Berwick Cricketers only)
    Otter Silver Otter 4.0%
    Brodie's Amarillo 4.2%
    Harvey's Old 4.3%
Firebird No. 79 Pale Ale 4.3%
    Hogs Back England's Glory 4.4%
    Long Man Number Eight 4.4%
    Brodie's Stepney Green Steam 4.5%
    XT 14 Saison Pale 4.5%
    JW Lees John Willies's 4.5%
    Harvey's Armada 4.5%
    ELB Nightwatchman 4.5%*
    ELB Jamboree 4.8%*
    Harvey's South Down Harvest 5.0%*
    Dark Star Carafa Jade 5.0%*
    Hawkshead Cumbrian Five Hop 5.0%*
    Lymestone Ein Stein 5.0%
    Stonehenge Old Smokey 5.0%
    Burning Sky Aurora 5.6%*

I am tempted by the Harvey's Best and at least I can understand now why Herr Protz rates it so highly but I'm going for the Hawkshead Cumbrian Five Hop as tried for £2.60 in the Redhill JDW the Sun.

A very full week on the ale.

Hall & Woodhouse -- Badger First Call
    ELB -- Cowcatcher *
    Fyne -- Rynegade *
    Roosters -- Der Kaiser * (3PT)
Itchen Valley -- Citra Hop *
Brew by Numbers -- White IPA * (keg)
Redemption -- Rock the Kazbek *
Magic Rock -- Dark Arts * (keg)
    Siren Craft -- Soundwave
    Fyne -- Avalanche *

Some really good pints in there but just breasting the tape as BOTW was Fyne Avalanche on very fine form in The Wenlock Arms.

Next week includes a visit to Atherstone with this time some hope of finding a decent pint.

BOTW Poppyfields - Rhino Rye IPA (bottle)

Another winner from this small Cromer brewery. Intense hoppy flavours and nicely punchy at 7%.

Reasonable week for me, the highlight of which was a nice lazy session at the Todmorden Beer Festival, with oldboots and ROBCamra, on Saturday afternoon.

    Elland - Amnesia.
    Bobs - Scorpion.*
    Salamander - Lock Stock Barrel.
Hart - Lord of the Glen.
    Vocation - Heart and Soul.*
    Deeply Vale - Deeply Blonde.
    Tirril - Lakeland Golden.
    Vocation - Chop and Change.
    Brightside - Kiwi Amber Ale.
    Thirst Class - Green Bullet.*
    Oates - American PA.
    Triple fff - Rock Lobster.
    Loch Ness - Hoppy Ness.
    Windsor & Eton - Boatman.*
    Brewsmith - IPA.*

Easy winner was Heart and Soul, a very tasty APA from a new brewery causing ripples of excitement on the local scene.
