After the stick I got from the other half for not making a weekend of it in York so that she could go shopping whilst we go drinking I took the precaution of running a weekend in Derby past her with the full expectation she would not be interested..

She's only gone and said yes, so reasonably priced City centre hotel booked for Fiiday night and one in the Dales for Saturday..

So don't have to worry about train times and will meet for breakfast at whatever the concluded time point will be

Had a £1 outbound leg in my megabasket, changed my mind which card to pay with, and somehow lost my reservation - went back 20secs later and the same train was £15! So, who got my £1 seat, arriving 10:23..?

    I now arrive 12:03.

I arrive at 11.23,perfect for a pint in the Brunswick before setting off on the interesting walk to The Smithfield.

    Default Derby pub crawl route

In the absence of any further suggestions, I attach a route for the pub crawl, which is now only two weeks away. I haven't included timings or a detailed route description. Does anyone want this, or can we find our own way around Derby?

The Peacock is a few minutes walk from the Exeter, you do not need to cross any busy roads, just go under the busy road ,there is a pavement on the right side, the road then swings to the right, you can then get onto the old Nottingham road and the Peacock.

Well worth the short walk in my opinion.

Yes, but getting onto the old Nottingham Road involves crossing the busy main road just after it emerges from the underpass. Just making sure everyone knows that it's not a road that you skip casually across!

I'm glad you agree the Peacock is worth the short walk.

As is traditional I haven't kept up with this trip at all- probably to do with a goodie upcoming on Saturday 21st around the Black Country which RealAleRay is attending (and that Jacinta wan as well but sure life can never be too perfect....). But I have developed a bit of a thirst so never say never. I have various mobile numbers.
