BOTW Blue Monkey Right Turn Clyde.

Another winner from Blue Monkey. Pale and refreshing at 4.3% and bitter enough to make Bishops Farewell seem sweet by comparison.

After a slow start ,momentum picked up later in the week.

Church End -- What the Fox's Hat *
    Holdens -- Whispering Death
    Wychwood -- Hobgoblin Gold
Red Squirrel -- Mister Squirrel *
    Crouch Vale -- Brewers Gold*
    Colchester -- Edgar Wallace Pale
Old Top -- Blue Top IPA
    Aylesbury Brewhouse -- Binary *
    Truman's -- Zephyr
    Dark Star -- Sunburst
Dark Star -- American Pale Ale *
    Meantime -- Yakima Red (keg)

Some good ones in there but BOTW goes to Red Squirrel Mr Squirrel ,looked boring and brown but punched above it's weight with some great hops, taken in The Edgar Wallace at the beginning of a big session.

Next week major Fullers action in one of their more charming tied houses, could be pricey.

Another sedate week but a few good beers toward the end of play,

    Darkstar -Hophead
    Darkstar- American Pale Ale*
    Goffs - Jouster
    Flying Monk - Friar
    Hogs Back Nirvana*
    Brass Castle - Northern Blonde
    Tillingborne - Hop Troll*
    Fullers - Wild River*
    Timothy Taylors - Le Champion

The Hop Troll takes the honours this week, but stiff competition from the Nirvana and Wild River, all three drank with pleasure in various pubs in Guildford.

    Truman's Budburst 4.2%
    Everard's Tiger 4.2%*
    Byatt's Vienna Pale Ale 4.2%
    Batham's Best 4.3%*
    Mr Grundy's Big Willie 4.3%
Jo C's Bitter Old Bustard 4.3%
    Portobello Northern Line Stout 4.4%*
    Enville Ale 4.5%
    Titanic Cappuccino Stout 4.5%*
    Lees Victory 4.5%

    Cradock's Troll 5.4%*

A lot to choose from there but the winner is Titanic Cappuccino Stout tried in the Kinver Constitutional Club for £2.87.
The Everard's Tiger gets an asterisk as it tasted a whole lot better than I remembered from previous occasions with more flavour and body.

    BOTE Titanic Cappuccino Stout

Reasonable week:I doubt if there will be much pub going for the next few days.

Tonbridge-Union Pale 4.7% abv. :Hoppy pale ale.
Goody Ales-Bleangate Brewery-Good Heavens 4.1%abv:I've given up on Goody Ales in bottled form, but this is a cracking old school best bitter:spicy, orchard fruit.
Old Dairy-Spring Top 4%abv:Well and traditionally hopped refreshing pale ale.
At risk of probably repeating myself,my BOTW is Spring Top, a very drinkable English style pale ale.

An excellent week for me, including some old favourites and some surprisingly good beers from breweries I'd not really rated before (Partners, XT).

    Clarks - Touchline Tonic.
    Welbeck Abbey - Henrietta Grande.
    Acorn - Old Moor Porter.*
    Oldershaw - Progress.
    Saltaire - Stateside IPA.*
    Ilkley - Joshua Jane.
    Phoenix - White Monk.
Burton Bridge - Top Dog Stout.*
    Fyne - Sunset Boulevard.*
    Partners - Grey Ghost IPA.*
    Rat - Ginger Rat.
    Fernandes - Double Six.*
    Abbeydale - Chocolate Stout.*
    Great Heck - Voodoo Mild.*
    XT - 3.*
    Five Towns - Raven King.*
    Great Heck - Chopper.*
    Brightside - Amarillo.*
    Five Points - Railway Porter.
    St Georges - Dreamweaver.
    Moorhouses - Farm House.
    Belhaven - Golden Bay.
Rat - Number of the Rat.*

A very difficult choice this week, but the XT3 was a lovely, juicy IPA made with Celeia, Columbus and Cluster hops.
