Default Beers that declined or disappeared.

Following a disastrous advert, sales of Bud Light in America are down 26%.

What household name beers have disappeared from public consciousness?

I’ll start with Hofmeister, whose “follow the bear” adverts were the stuff of TV legend.

Recently came across it in a craft pub. Someone had bought the name and it just about exists.

A 100% decline in sales of Bud Light would be fine by me.

Beers I remember being advertised heavily in the '70s were the likes of Whitbread Trophy, Truman's Ben Truman, Worthington E and Ind Coope Long Life .

Brewdog 5a.m. Saint. I think they renamed it, then it disappeared? Dunno. Had it once on cask though before they binned that idea!

Not beers we know and love, but in my formative drinking years (mid-90s) I remember adverts and great fanfare for Guinness' Enigma lager, Carling Premier, and Caffrey's; all three draught beer in a can (and I definitely drank the latter two on keg in pubs and clubs). The first of the three seemed to sink without a trace IIRC.

Brewdog stopped all cask beers but 5am Saint was still.on keg quite recently.

Guinness also gave us this. In the late '80s, a friend who had been living overseas and missed the endless Billy Connolly-fronted ads, actually got drunk on the stuff at a wedding, much to the hilarity of other guests when he learnt that it was alcohol-free.

My early drinking years were late 80's / early 90's. In the local M&B pubs it was Springfield bitter and the lagers were Tennants. The Banks pubs obviously mild or Bitter with Harp lager. The beer of choice in the local Holts pubs was Entire bitter.
I remember a fad on Caffrey's, Carling Premier and Murphy's Irish Stout.
I the 90's my local sold Satzenbrau and then Zamek lager.
