Ok, just had a quick play with GIMP, quite impressed by that, it did what I wanted fairly easily, thanks for that pointer.

For those who may find GIMP a bit head scratching, there is a Photoshop GIMP lookalike, Gimpshop http://www.gimpshop.com/
GIMPshop is a modification of the free/open source GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), intended to replicate the feel of Adobe Photoshop. Its primary purpose is to make users of Photoshop feel comfortable using GIMP.
I will be perfectly honest and say Gimp is more than adequate for most people. Ok the expensive programs are a bit more polished but if it was me paying I would go for Gimp, which being free agrees with my tight wad approach to life. That goes for programs like "Office" which I fail to use to its full extent. Try Open Office but the smaller word proccesing packages contain plenty for the private user.I liked the old Lotus Organizer. When you turned to a new page it made page turning noises. Yes I know, simple things please simple minds.
I dig around in FileHippo,C.Net and MagorGeeks for free stuff. Surprising what you can come up with.
I’m no David Bailey so I look and click and post the result without any editing which I don’t really have the interest to look into any further.
I have some with people in that just happened to be passing so if admin want to tinker with any of my snaps please feel free – they are yours now anyway!
