Nothing worse than a blunt chisel.

The people that use these devices are so incredibly stupid thet TFL make announcements on Underground stations advising them not to wonder off the edge of the platform while using their silly toys. If it wasn't for the fact that it would delay my journey I would be delighted to see all of them them go under a train.

Fair enough, that is an extreme point of view not made all that seriously, but are you really defending these idiots that have to be warned by TFL?

TFL chooses to warn them - I assume the average idiot remains largely unaffected either way based on my experience of close observance...

Probably because the average idiot doesn't feel the need to be enslaved to one of these moronic devices.
I would be surpprised that anyone indulging in the use of one of these things found the time to closely observe anything at all!

Luckily I've never done this. However most members of the canal community have a smart phone to maintain some internet connection when travelling around the system. All emergency stoppages and engineering works are notified by email,so it's invaluable if you want to avoid a situation of being stuck in the middle of nowhere with no pub for miles around.
