The Rhydspence Inn, a great-looking place, and once the subject of much controversy in this forum (when it looked like it would be lost for good, but thankfully very much still going). Also said to be the closest pub to the Welsh border (being the stream along the side of the garden, and something of an USP for the last few days) and claims to date from 1380 (which seems much more plausible than most such assertions).

Footnote:- The closest pub to the Welsh Border must be Cross Keys Hotel in Llanymynech. When you walk out on to the pavement you are still in England, but when you step on the road two yards away you are in Wales! The Bradford arms down the road is similar but the pavement is a bit wider!
These two pubs are now open, but The Dolphin across the road has to stay closed for now as it is in Wales.
