    Modest week.

    Milton -- Pegasus
    Sixpoint -- Importer
Dark Star -- American Pale Ale * >3PT

BOTW goes to Dark Star American Pale Ale,in such good nick in The George that it really wasn't worth diversifying to anything else.

Next week looks ropey, will need to be creative.

What could have been a very dull week was seriously rescued by a visit to Wellington followed by Codsall Station, the Wolverhampton Spoons and the Great Western.

    Holden's Black Country Mild 3.7%*
    Adnam's Southwold Bitter 3.7%
    Holden's Black Country Bitter 3.8%
    Enville Ginger 4.0%
    Bragdy Mws Piws Ysgawen 4.0%*
    Wye Valley HPA 4.0%*
    Wibbler Polar Beer 4.2%
    Six Bells Cloud Nine 4.2%
    Ludlow Black Knight 4.5%*
    Lymestone Foundation Stone 4.5%
    Hanlon's Port Stout 4.8%*
    Ludlow Stairway 5.0%*
    Beowulf Blizzard 5.0%*
    Beowulf Mercian Shine 5.0%
    Titanic Captain Smith 5.2%
    Beowulf Grendal's Winter Ale 5.8%*
    Adnam's Sixpoint Xporter 6.0%*
    Elland 1872 Porter 6.5%
    Sarah Hughes Snowflake 8.0%*

The winner has to be the Sarah Hughes Snowflake, a Golden Ale that despite the big ABV is really very drinkable. It was a stonking £4.00 a pint in the Codsall Station but hey, Central London pubs charge that for any old rubbish.
Honourable mention goes to the two Ludlow beers, the Hanlon's Port Stout and the Adnam's Sixpoint Xplorer.
Note the Ludlow Black Knight was badged as Black Christmas but it's the same beer.

Really??? Even though they watered it down with all the usual lame excuses from a marketing muppet?
I always preferred their dark ales as the bitters always had an odd salty taste to me.

    Gentle week:
    Oakham Bishops Farewell*
    Pheonix Christmas Kiss*
    Downton Winter Solstice*

BOTW Downton Winter Solstice. The acceptable face of boring brown beer.

With the siege of Christmas come and gone, it was great to get back to something approaching normality, this week.

    Northern Monk - True North.
    Kirkstall - Three Swords.*
    Bridgehouse - Blonde.
    Camerons - A-hop-alypse Now.
Magic Rock - Cannonball. 8%* (keg)
    Theakstons - Old Peculier.*
    Liverpool Organic - Joseph Williamson.
Five Towns - OAP Double IPA 9.6%*
    Stringers - Bauhaus.
Five Towns - Mad Monk Imperial Stout 8%*
    Ulverston - Lonesome Pine.
    Great Heck - Washington Red.*
    Great Heck - Voodoo Mild.*
    Riverhead - Vanilla Mild.
    Great Heck - Citra.*

A very difficult decision this week as there are some very good contenders in that list. However, the Citra edges it because of the flavour to strength ratio. Absolutely fresh as a daisy, at the Fernandes Tap, on Sunday afternoon.

Had 2 pints of Black Flag Fang in The Baum on Tuesday.

Favourite for next weeks BOTW at the moment.

This weeks is going to be Pictish Whiteout, not a hopbomb, but very dangerous at 6%.
