Default Pubs Links to Hymns and Carols

I attended a church service last week where one of the hymns was 'Guide me, O thou great Redeemer' (the bread of heaven song adapted by football fans all over).

When it came to the second verse, it started "Open now the crystal fountain, whence the healing stream doth flow" I thought, hold on, the Crystal Fountain is a pub in Cannock. The healing stream must be the Black Country ales they sell.

Can you think of any more?

I'm no expert on sport but surely this song is more related to rugby and especially the Wales team? The only reason I'm saying this is that years ago I used to frequent a Robinson's pub in the Llanberis Pass where the landlord agreed to "afters" on the provision that the locals sang their rugny anthems and that was one of the songs (the only one that was sung in English).

    A rather obvious one:

'We Three Kings of Orient are...'
'And where he supped the past lived still. And where he sipped the glass brimmed full' John Barleycorn, Carol Ann Duffy.

Granted, definitely a Welsh rugby song but in football, usually as "We'll support you evermore", a defiant chant sung when defeat finally looks to be inevitable. Other versions include "Are you watching ................" (insert name of detested rivals) usually as a taunt when winning on TV, or the deeply eloquent "Who the f......... h... are you?". There are many others. Football songs can be very tedious and basic but also sometimes inspired. Thankfully the 80s "ere we go ere we go ere we go" appears consigned to the dustbin of life.

When Shaun Goater played for Manchester City, the fans used to sing "Feed the Goat and he will score"
