York doesn't do cheap and cheerful. Even the Travelodges are £50+ per night.

I'm booked in there for the Friday night - it was the cheapest central hotel I could find.

The Central York Premier Inn is now £94 for the Friday night - Damn the popularity of the biannual PuG beano!

I've booked into the north west Premier Inn (£39) which looks like a short cab ride from the town centre.

I'm booked on a train back to King's Cross at around 17:00 on the Saturday so hopefully I will work my way around some central 'tourist' pubs that afternoon.

Spoons breakfast in the morn sounds good!!!
