    Default The next Pubsgalore crawl.

Although the dust has only just settled after the excellent Bristol crawl,I thought I would get the ball rolling, especially as advanced rail fare deals are now being offered to mid February.

In past years March has been a popular month for a crawl, and if Fridays are still the preferred option I would certainly be available on March 6th,13th and 20th but definitely not the 27th.

The other major topic for conversation is the venue. The furthest north that we ventured during 2014 on the major crawls was Rugby ,so is it about time to aim for a northern city for the next crawl ?

I know that cost considerations play a part when venturing north for many southern members, but that equally applies to our friends in the north when a southern venue is chosen.

Is there support for a trip up north ?

6..13..20..27 March all ok for us. This may change a bit when I know the dates for the Leicester beer fest though. I am happy to go with the flow on your suggestions.

20th would be best for me, or possibly the 6th, but definitely not the 13th. North potentially OK for me, but a decision would be needed quite soon so that advance train tickets can be booked as soon as they become available (i.e. about three months in advance).

March should be fine with me. If we're going north it's probably the turn of Manchester or Sheffield. A little harder to get to would be York, Huddersfield or Chester.

I don't have a problem with having the next meet up in the north.

I agree that for those coming from the south Huddersfield or Chester can be a bit of a stretch. There are trains at Crewe for Chester every 20 minutes or so, which makes it a little better than Huddersfield in my experience.

York, with fast trains on the east coast main line might not be so bad.

If we're talking about Manchester, Stockport might also be an option - some very good pubs for a smallish town - though buses might need to be involved.

Not sure about Sheffield. Any good pubs there, do you think?

I wouldn't mind a look oop north but it will come down to travel cost for me, just had a quick look at the likes of Manchester and York as far ahead as i can (currently 20th Feb) and both are well over the £100.00, a little to rich for me for a few hours on the sauce, although a two night stay in a travel lodge works out slightly cheaper and worth consideration. I find the train costs very hard to understand, a couple of examples I looked at a bit further south (not north I suppose but nosebleed territory as far as I'm concerned) I found confusing, I can get to Nottingham and back (I know you have already done this one, just an e.g.) in Feb for £44.00, and yet Derby, not a million miles away from the former weighs in at an eye watering £102.00 . So will have to see what deals can be found when the location is decided.

Is that East Coast line for Nottingham compared with West Coast line for Derby I wonder. Will see what prices from the Midlands will be for the places mentioned so far. I know it will be for a Feb date at the moment, but a decent indicator.
13.2.15 is the Friday I could use. Prices for 1 with senior card. 2 singles unless stated return.
    Derby.... £9.50
    Nottingham .... £11.55 return
Sheffield .... £25.40 but I get returns to Derby and use Wayfarer so around £16
    Manchester .... £22.60
    Stockport .... £22.60
    Crewe .... £9.10
    Chester .... £13.45 return
    York .... £35.60
    Huddersfield .... £36.15

Strange pricing, so if Manchester then a return to Crewe plus another ticket from Crewe to Piccadilly comes in considerably cheaper.
    Ok, maybe just for one......................
