    Lurgy
As expected, a poor week, briefly revived by Hog's Back TEA 4.2%abv.taken in the beer tent at the local ploughing match held in fellow scribe rpadam's manor. If we'd been able to go in the morning, my choice of BOTW would have been somewhat different, as all the Old Dairy beers had run out.
Anyway, a serviceable if somewhat dull best bitter is better than no real ale.

Another week lacking in variety if not quantity, only been in the local this week and due to work commitments the next two weeks will be along the same lines, roll on October.
    Darkstar Hophead
    Darkstar American Pale Ale
    Triple fff Moondance
All three were in good nick but for the sake of change Moondance is BOTW.

    Modest week

    Timothy Taylor's -- Golden Best
    Vale -- VPA*
    Adnams -- Ghost Ship*

BOTW goes to Vale VPA with it's destinct bitterness and well kept in The Duncombe,Hertford a GK owned pub that thankfully takes in four decent guest real ales.

Next week looks big,a visit to one of my favourite canal towns,Stone in Staffs, then some end month meet ups including a trip to the Wenlock and all polished off in the George before the footie.

A bumper week for me with a beer festival visit and a day out in Loughborough :-

    Ilkley Black Mild 3.7%
    Triple fff Alton's Pride 3.8%
    Nottingham Rock Mild 3.8%
    Elliswood Best Of Both 4.0%
    Abbeydale Deception 4.1%
    Banks's Botanical Beer 4.2%
    Celt Experience Native Storm 4.4%
Falstaff A Fist Full Of Hops 4.5%
East London Brewing Company Nightwatchman 4.5%
    Blue Monkey Infinity 4.6%
    Saltaire Triple Chocoholic 4.8%
    East London Brewing Cowcatcher 4.8%
    Blue Monkey Guerilla 4.9%
    Steamin' Billy 1485 5.0%
    Lymestone Ein Stein 5.0%
    Caveman Neanderthal 5.0%
    Ascot Anastasia Stout 5.0%
    Windsor & Eton Conqueror 5.0%
Greene King Buck Green Governor 5.0%
    Blue Monkey Ape Ale 5.4%
    Everard's Terrapin Rye 5.5%
    Blue Monkey Infinity + 1 5.6%
    Wadworth's Mermaid's Red 5.7%
    Westerham Audit Ale 6.2%
    Elland 1872 Porter 6.5%

There are two very good milds at the weaker end of the list but the award has to be a Blue Monkey beer as the Organ Grinder did not disappoint either for the beer or as a pub. I was unlucky to catch the Ape Ale at the end of the cask but their other three beers were all outstanding. To pick one is something of a lottery so I'll go for the Infinty + 1. I bet they named a beer without an ape reference so they could come up with the even sillier name of Infinity + 1.

BOTW Blue Monkey Infinity + 1

    This week:
    Oakham Bishops Farewell*
    B & T Little Sheff
Banks/Green Flash Citra Session IPA (for JD Wetherspoons)*
    Hook Norton Flagship*

BOTW Banks / Green Flash Citra Session IPA brewed at Banks by Chuck Silva for 'spoons. An easily drinkable Citra IPA at 4.5% which isn't overwhelmed by the citra.
