    Default County Durham

What’s the score with County Durham? It is classed as a county on PuG but seems to be included within North Yorkshire.

It has its own Police force along with all the other criminal justice agencies as I worked with them for nearly 4 years.

The county Palatine of Durham is entirely separate to N Yorks, what prompted the question?

Runs between Tyne and Wear and Cleveland. Nothing to do with Yorkshire.

Does the fictional county of Cleveland still exist?

Cleveland was my county when I lived at Seaton Carew, Hartlepool.

Almost entirely gone now, I believe there is still a Cleveland Police, I believe this mainly because of all the press coverage of its various scandals.

The main towns in that part of the North Riding are now "Unitary Councils" although the good people of Yarm were up in arms at being lumped in under Stockton on Tees over the river in County Durham and demanded to become part of the nearest North Yorkshire District Council.

County Durham lies between the Tees and the Tyne as far west as the Derwent, regardless of what self important local politicians may say.

There is indeed still a Cleveland criminal justice area, but probably not for much longer.

It's used by OCJR as the testing ground for new I.T. rollouts as it's so small.

Warwickshire is another that is likely to go the same way.
