Default Masons Arms, Upper Berkeley Street

I was quite surprised that this one, just down from The Carpenters (Seymour Place) was not PuG listed.
No point now though, as it has closed down, to be converted to a fish restaurant I believe. Some here may not have enthused about this H&W outlet, but I rather liked it and they kept the beer in good nick. I passed by on Thursday and the heathens have already painted the lovely old wooden window framework, including the latticed arches, black, and the outer walls red.

Heading to the Carpenters didn't improve matters, 4 of the 6 pumps clipped, but 2 mainstreams meant a more limited choice than the last couple of times I've been here. Nothing appealed, I didn't stop.

I think you must have searched without the 'Show closed pubs' box ticked, as it is listed:

Oh. I didn't realise that the search defaulted to exclude pubs marked as closed.
I'm also confused with the photos which clearly showing the colour scheme I described, but which I thought was recent (for the restaurant). Am I going mad? I know last time I was in I was appreciating the timber windows - are they only painted on the outside, I wonder?

Certainly the dates of the photographs suggest that the exterior has been painted red in recent years. I've certainly been in there, but can't say for sure what the colour scheme. I know that it's unlike you to make a mistake about something as important as a pub's location, but could you be confusing it with the Mason's Arms down the other end of Devonshire St? Unlikely, of course, just wondering.....
