Just returned from my extended trip out West. Really enjoyed the crawl on Friday - some great beer and pubs in the usual excellent company. Thanks to everyone involved in putting together the excellent itinerary and marshalling such a large group around the city. Bcfczuluarmy and I were the only two who persevered with the Strawberry Thief - I'm not sure that the staff knew quite what to do with us, but we did manage to get a drink and I took some notes for a review, although they might be obsolete now!

After I left Dave and Tammy in the Phoenix, I headed off to find a bite to eat but managed to get completely lost (and completely soaked), so that by the time I finally figured out how to get back to the hotel, I couldn't find anywhere still doing food. A large Spoons breakfast with Rex and MM sorted me out nicely the following morning though.

Thanks to all the Bristol based PuG folk for the tips for things to do over the weekend. We had a good day out in Clifton, a trip along the harbour to the Grain Barge and would've enjoyed a look around the SS Great Britain had someone not booked it for their wedding that afternoon. It's a great city and I'm sure I'll be back for more.

According to tonight's local paper, the table service is as a result of a quirk in the pub's licensing conditions rather than a deliberate strategy. Apparently they stock five beers on draught and another 50 by the bottle, all Belgian I think.

Just in case there are new (or changed) targets on the Briz-ale scene, what would the locals currently consider to be the top 8-10 must dos in this fine city?
    I'll be re-visiting on Saturday.
    Thanks!

I can't think of any new must visits since the PuG outing, with the exception perhaps of The Volunteer Tavern which is one of my new favourites (must update my review though...).

I was very disappointed with my last visit to the Kings Head. A very pronounced smell of pee (at at the opposite end of the pub from the loos) and getting charged £6.70 for a pint and a small glass of orange juice and lemonade put me off going back there for a bit.
