Thread: Beer of the Week (w/e 8th June 2014)

A small but select number of beers:

    Ossett Citra
    Abbeydale Absolution
    TT Landlord
    Millstone Tiger Rut
    Oakham Bishops Farewell
    Hebden Bridge Girl Crush

All very good but BOTW was Hebden Bridge Girl Crush brewed at Bridestones apparently. Great name, great beer - red, malty, hoppy, full of flavour and dangerously drinkable at 5%. Three pint test passed with ease, they flew down.

    Quiet week for me.

    BrewDog - Abstrakt 16 (bottle).
Marble - Earl Grey IPA* (bottle).
    Mallinsons - Holly Blue.
    Oakham - JHB.
    Great Heck - Shankar IPA*.

Can't remember the last time I nominated the same beer two weeks on the trot for BOTW, but there really was no contest. Drinking it, this week, in the more familiar surroundings of the Brewer's Pride, Ossett, I managed four pints with ease. In fact, if it hadn't been for closing time, I'd probably have been nursing a major hangover on Sunday morning.

Bit of a departure this week, when a friend who has decided the craft beer scene is his thing brought round a couple of bottles to share. The Abstrakt was aptly described by the missus as 'a bit like Newcy Brown on steroids', but was ridiculously overpriced at £15, a pop. The Earl Grey IPA was utterly delicious and knocked spots off it, at a quarter of the price. The cask version must be superb.

Thanks for that, I still haven't been to the Cock Tavern to give the cider a bash!

Outstanding Blond. A nice, easy drinking blonde bitter, but at 4.5% a little strong for a full session.

Tried in The Baum of course.
