With you on this one 'ob'. Had it on Saturday night at an American beer festival and really didn't like it. The programme described it as 'aromas of bitter chocolate and oak, as well as multiple flavour levels comprising delicate sweet bourbon, silky chocolate and dry oak'. I described it as a sour overcomplicated mess.

Ive had the Sonnet beer and didn't like the taste although it was in good condition. Some beers just don't work imo although that beer has been around for a while so they must be re -brewing it so someone must like it.

I don't recall trying that one but do recall having decent pints from this brewer over the years, mainly Old Knucker.
Let's hope they are not going down the Cottage Brewery route of mass producing rubbish beers for the large pub chains and breweries.

Have we all been lucky lately, the last post was on 27th May.

This week it's (again from a usually reliable brewery) Partners Blonde, more diactyl than you can shake a stick at - foul.

You know that fag ash taste you sometimes get from a beer?

Partners have been known to be guilty as have Brass Monkey.

Tara Mallinson was telling me last week that it is caused by the brewer not cleaning the heating elements properly after each brew.

The sugars caramalise, stick to the elements and then fall off in a later brew having been hardened and burnt.

An easy solution is available I should have thought. Stop being lazy.

Wasted my money on Harveys -R a new 2.8 beer.Tastless rubbish in the Harp bar £3.80 a pint as well. The pub didn't pass on any of the cost savings.

Langhams Sundowner, no body or flavour and a bloody awful taste, a big disappointment after Arapaho by the same brewer was my BOTW of last week.

I rarely post on this thread as I try a lot of new beers often from new breweries. On Wedneday in the company of two others had 8 new beers and none could be described by us as very good then two beauties from Siren.I could fill this thread with poor beers.I would say about 60 percent of the beers I drink are poor. Its a tough life being a ticker.

Sampled on a recent trip to Northumberland:

Coquetdale Brewery - Snitter Bitter (the most boring brown beer I've ever had) and Simonside
VIP Brewery, Alnwick - everything I tried from this brewery was awful
