He hasn't updated his pub blog thingy yet so he must still be in hospital. When he gets round to posting the photo he took, I would mention that the bloke standing outside is just someone that looks uncannily like me.

They may have messed with it - it was 2 years ago I traded with them. And Brains beers always taste better when Wales WIN a couple of games I've noticed...

Needless to say, I am intrigued about this place now!

I had a pint of that last week in the Hooden in Great Chart (Kent). It wasn't the best beer of the evening, but it was drinkable. Perhaps you had a bad batch?

Not awful, but certainly disappointing, was the Rudgate Battle Axe on at the village local as the guest ale this week. Given how good the award-winning Ruby Mild was earlier this year, it seemed a big let-down to me...

I had a similar experience with this beer in the Dagda Bar in Edinburgh recently. Hadn't seen it before so was eager to try it out and given the name I thought it might be a bit punchy. To be honest I can't remember much about it which probably sums it up. Moved along the pumps for subsequent beers without a thought of having a second Battle Axe.

I went into the Brew Wharf in Borough Market last night.Too damn trendy for me. More importantly, the beer form the in house micro brewery was eyewateringly expensive at £3.90 and undrinkably cold. By the time I'd warmed it up, the claimed fusion of US and English malt and hops was reasonably intriguing, but not what I'd been expecting. Could try harder.
