    Because of the solera system, the brew changes from year to year; solera beer was new to me. I knew it had been used for sherry and certain vinegars, but not beer; McAllan whisky is matured in sherry barrels which I imagine is something similar.

    The whole point of the solera system is to keep the product consistent over the years. What comes out of the bottom each is a blend of what's gone in the top over many years. The brew may change from year to year, what is sold should be identical.

    Kill The Headlights - Black Lodge. A truly awful maple and pecan porter on in The Ship And Mitre, Liverpool. It just doesn't work.
