If only we knew someone who might know something about this category of pubs.....................hang on
The term "waterside" has been stretched by this list to include a tidal estuary (Mersey) ,tidal rivers (Wye,Sussex Ouse),non navigable rivers (Don in Sheffield) and a seaside venue .Well thats my excuse for having only visited 3 ,and their canalside selections (Nelson and D&D) are possibly iconic but not really great must visit pubs.
"Good people drink good beer" Hunter S Thompson
"The Saracens Head Inn operates one of the UK’s few hand-pulled ferries", another one being less than half a mile away at the Olde Ferrie Inn. I hope the beer is better at the Saracens Head...
Meanwhile in Sheffield, the beer garden at the Gardeners Rest, half a mile upstream, is a million times better than at the Riverside. Better beer and better pub all round too, in my opinion.
