I think I've said before that this is an area I despise. I've been to the JDW which I quite liked on a morning visit. I doubt that I will ever return to this part of London.

Just The Ledger Building (spoons) and The Grapes which is the nearest pub to Limehouse Basin and hence always merits a visit before or after tackling the tideway.

Here's a list, from BITE in its 2009 glory days. What is fascinating is I've been in or at least know of a big chunk of that list. I doubt the same could be said of a similar list of 40 favorite pubs nowadays.

That's a decent list,I've visited 22.If I remember correctly ,the rot set in at BITE in 2009 so this is an interesting historical high water mark for that site.

Extraordinary: I've been to 22 on that list too! It does seem that the rating system was throwing up some gooduns.

After a Dorset trip last year I think I have 34 of that list!

Some very good boozers there. 18 for me. 34 is deeply impressive.
