Running Awards events is a fairly standard bit of publicity/revenue attracting activity (I have done it myself!) They also run such extravaganzas as the National Burger Awards, the Freak Shake Awards and the Great British BBQ Battle. Good clickbait and they have done fairly well in generating publicity, but I think we can ignore them entirely.
On leaving the bar, I felt a strong blow to the back of my head. Turning round, I discovered it was the pavement

Top 50 London Pubs (yet another).
Some usual suspects, some not so, some omissions. Ad blocker recommended.

    36/50 for me.

42/50 , with only the Peckham/Nunhead/Plumstead entries pending.

This is a very good list, the only clunker I can think of is the Harwood, which is a restaurant where you can graciously sit at the bar; the Cow is a local and I walk past it every day - it's the ultimate poseurs' pub so I avoid it. I've made return visits to the Pride of Spitalfields, Mitre and Bank of Friendship in the last five days and they're still enjoyable.

The Salisbury is a must-visit for the stunning interior; if CAMRA offered a ****-star award, this would be a recipient. The Palm Tree is a must-visit, especially given the current landlords can't go on forever - they've been there since around 1974 - and when they go, it'll get hipsterised. The Holly Tree is fun for the railway, leaving the visitor chuffed!
