'twas ever thus...Dunno the best venue:Canterbury for character, perhaps Sevenoaks,Tonbridge,Tunbridge Wells. Most towns are grotty or quite small. I'm not really the best source of info, as I rarely drink in town pubs.

Yup. Dull sums them up and sadly two are local to me. I almost got a pint out of desperation at the Clissold Park Tavern on Monday but I wasn't that desperate. I've never wondered why the Famous Cock has been given this name. There's nothing 'famous' about it. The Load of C**K would be a better description.

Spend a week doing the Kentish micropubs (or should that be the micropubs of Kent)!

I'd agree with 'every pub in Bloomsbury'. Used to live there and that sums it up perfectly!

I know I've been in The Famous Cock before an Arsenal match. The only memorable thing was the name! I'll have to have a check on the others.

They deliberately serve short measures in the Chandos, perhaps an instruction from Sams hq. Some idiot tried to tell me it was the law to serve 10% short. I politely requested a top up and the hostile yoot behind the bar then slammed the glass down so hard that the increased volume jumped back out of the glass! Well, I said, you'll have to top that up again now, won't you..? I only ever went in the place to use the cubby hole dart area, if available.
