Interesting history of the place here. There was evidence of its original name and use until mid-2014, but this too has now gone.
Glad I missed the Stargazy Pie.

Just uploaded to the Brewery History website, do you remember the Whitbread Weather Station? Visible to the right, it was a giant barometer and thermometer. It's the one thing I do remember of the place as it fascinated me as a child; I seem to have memories that it was illuminated at night.

I remember drinking in the building ,it's distinctive, but maybe after the takeover by Forte which caused a change of name and the probable removal on the weather station. My shocking pint was Fullers ESB I seem to remember which also points to Forte rather than Whitbread ownership.

Fantastic! I thought the barometer was illuminated and I was right, even after 40 years; I didn't know it was later a branch of Henekey's, like https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/21917/ and
    The https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/54397/.

I don't remember the lavishly illuminated Wunder-Bar next door. There was a similarly illuminated character on the frontage of The Brewmaster over the road. Something of a landmark, especially at night, it has now gone.

One for me, Live & Let Live. Naturally, we sat indoors, though the garden was very pretty.

Default Ten of the best UK pub gardens

    https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2...n-readers-tips

Slightly misleading title, as it's not been rigorously researched by journalists from London, merely suggested by readers - and how would they know which are the 10 best pub gardens?

I've only been to one of these pubs - The Cricketers in Redbourn, not far from where I lived in Hemel Hempstead, but this was nearly 50 years ago, so no review on Pubs Galore, sorry.
