"At that moment I would have given a kingdom, not for champagne or hock and soda, or hot coffee but for a glass of beer" Marquess Curzon of Kedlestone, Viceroy of India.
I've done six of these, and almost made it to the CB when cycling in the Dales in autumn - the wind and weather dictated a change of route. Another near miss would have been The Inn At Whitewell when I lived the wrong side of the Pennines back in the 70s. I've walked and driven in the Forest of Bowland, but never stopped for a drink, somehow.
I could name half a dozen pubs in the Lake District with more interesting walks (and better pubs, for that matter) than the Three Shires Inn. In fact I walked to the Britannia Inn on Monday and the Travellers Rest Inn on Tuesday this week.
Come On You Hatters!
Just the one on my doorstep for me The Three Tuns The only walking I've done is to the next pub.
CB and Bridge in Newcastle, we certainly don't walk to the CB and I've only ever walked to the Bridge from other pubs in Newcastle, also been in the Tyne Bar mentioned in the same breath. The Stubbing Wharf is on "the list" when I do Hebden Bridge in a month or two.
Failed to get to a pub today but in the past have been to the Bridge Tavern,Three Tuns and ,as you might suspect,Stubbings Wharf ,Hebden Bridge.
