I liked some comments on the list, like "...it’s not a hipster ‘craft’ hangout and nor is it a haven for beer bores." for the Southampton and "...Bass, is served fresh." for the Dyffryn; thank heavens it's fresh!

As you'd expect,16/20, for me. The ones I haven't done tend to be out in the sticks. I've a particular fondness for The Fenton. Back in the early 90s our flat was a mere five minutes walk away. It was not uncommon to go out at 10pm, for last orders. These days, it's more likely to be the news headlines and a cup of camomile tea!

Wow, many of those photos depict nothing of the essence of a pub - would deter me, if anything, rather than encourage a visit.
I do, however, know of a pretty good website where I could look at the pubs' qualities properly...

Potentially a list to avoid rather than visit - Estrella Damm's Top 100 Gastropubs for 2024 (in two parts). On a very unscientific read through I reckon I have been to about 25, although mainly before they went gastro.
In fairness, there are some splendid historic pubs in there (and even a few very good ones) and I suppose it is better that they survive in some form rather than just closing down.
