Never been in either the Philharmonic or the Fat Cat Brewery Tap, but my impression from others' descriptions does not lead me to think of cosiness, nor is it my experience of the Wellington, the Marble Arch or the Harrogate Tap.
Of the 29 on the list that I have been to, several are places where you would only feel welcome if you had booked a table and could afford the food and either a taxi or a room too (Blue Lion, Craven Arms, Drunken Duck), so not my idea of cosiness. And the Oxford Bar, a basic backstreet boozer, would only feel cosy for those who like cosying up to famous authors, or the idea of being in the same pub as their fictional characters.
I'm surprised that two Daily Mail hacks found the Free Trade cosy, as it's fairly rough, in my estimation. I liked it, but I'm a little gobsmacked that they do too!
