I'd never think of going to the Royal Oak for Sunday lunch ..
    Been in 3

    Higher Buck, Waddington, Lancashire
    The Cholmondeley Arms, Malpas, Cheshire
    The Boat, Erbistock, near Wrexham

Actully had Sunday lunch in two of them

    The Cholmondeley, just once
The Boat, many times. Usually on a sunny day, eating on the banks of the River Dee, reading my Grauniad (if they had no Beanos!)

    Three for me:

2 - gone to the dogs and temporarily lost its licence some weeks back due the noise in what was once a charming backstreet locals' pub.

7 - a pretty interior, but not a great pub experience; the Pineapple and Southampton Arms are a short walk.

    17 - poseurs paradise.

I don't know what sort of criteria are used to decide what make the list, coin tossing?

Judging from their website, this place seems to be some sort of round-the-clock entertainment hub for only the most hardened craic addicts.

    No major problems there.
