A seemingly decent list in the main, London's Best Pubs 37/50 for me.

Almost half of your total: 18/50. But it's an interesting list and has given me some ideas for pubs to visit in London.

Many thanks Moby. I missed this list when it came out on Wednesday but read their defence of it in the paper on my way out of town yesterday. Primarily it was a preemptive strike to ward off the criticism they received for certain glaring ommisions from last years list, one of which was the Blythe Hill Tavern , which appears at no2 in this years list.

Obviously its very subjective, but I also thought this was a decent stab and 40/50 for me.

Forgot to mention that ironically my trip to Spitalfields yesterday included me popping into the Golden Heart of said list. And to demonstrate the subjectiveness of it all I would have The Pride of Spitalfields over this one all day long

Re-reading my review of an abortive visit on St Patricks Day, and also Tris C's underwhelming experience, one does rather wonder what the Evening Standard's pub experts see in The Golden Heart.

I've added your recommended Pride of Spitalfields to my list.

I agree with all the comments about this being a good list .

I've ticked 30,some pre reviewing days of yore ,and the list has given me a few ideas for 2024.

42 for me with some on my 'to-do' list.

Not a bad list at all but did raise my eyebrows on occasion:

Devonshire - brand new interior opened a little over a week ago and very gastro.
Cow - probably London's biggest poseurs pub.
Wells - a modern restaurant in all but name.
Jolly Gardeners - Perhaps they got excited because a scene from Snatch was filmed here; the bar back is the giveaway.
Prince Arthur - A bit dull; the really rather good Prince George next door is the place to go; perhaps the compilers got confused.

Good to see the institution that is Bradley's Bar makes the list.

If I could also add one from the list as one to do before it goes the way of the dodo, then as mentioned by many reviewers The Palm Tree is one not to miss and there are some very decent adjacent pubs; note the the place is folding-only.

My last visit to the Palm Tree was now over 11 years ago and on that occasion it let me down, must give it another go.

Yes. It's not an early doors pub and the couple who've run the place since around 1975 aren't that welcoming to strangers, but it's certainly worth a look before they go to that great beer garden in the sky and the place gets the bare brick/exposed ductwork/filament bulbs and wasabi peas treatment.

It also makes for a good crawl with:

    The Coborn
    The Morgan Arms
    Green Goose
    The Lord Tredegar
The Camel (a particular favourite with Gus Voltman)
    The Approach Tavern
