[QUOTE=Pangolin;118260]The latest from Sawday's, publishers of the 'Great British Pub Guide', is 40 Countryside Pubs for food.

Just the one: The Perch Inn and pretty rubbish. Essentially it's a restaurant with drinking at the bar only. Poor food, yapping dogs (one or both smelled terrible) and crying babies. Research seems poor as I'm fairly certain you can't punt on the Isis.

They jump about a bit at random, so perhaps there aren't 40 on the list.

I don't think it's a set list at all - I switched from page 1 to page 2 and the Perch at Binsey cropped up on both pages. I think it's like shaking a kaleidoscope. Just a marketing tool - not to be taken seriously.

As Komakino said, the full list was in some papers over the weekend and there were 40 in total, but the website is quite berserk and seems to bring up random changes in the list as you move between pages.

I must say that most of the ones I have done, I did before gastro-pubs were a thing and probably wouldn't rush to now.
On leaving the bar, I felt a strong blow to the back of my head. Turning round, I discovered it was the pavement

    I reckon I've done 9.
    6 for me.

The Bluecoats reminded me that there is a crawl to be done in Tottenham including a trip to the gents . The third target pub is the Crown & Anchor,Stockwell in the increasingly desperate search for an array of real ale .

Someone mentioned to me yesterday about Beavertown opening a pub (the cricket club I was running the bar at serves Neck Oil) and I was reminded about the Corner Pin, which looks like it's re-opening next month. Probably won't serve any real ale, but I'd stick my head if in the area, as I have the same pubs you mention on my "to-do" list.

Well I didn't know that. But the pub's still not worth a punt.

Really? I just cannot see that.
I did ponder the Bluecoats pre-City match though the Antwerp would have been preferred had we travelled the challenging route up from Seven Sisters.
In the end I was quite happy to use the link to Northumberland Park and walk to the Redemption Brewery, where the beers were a very decent £3.60 cask (incl Big Chief) and £4.00 keg. I didn't drink enough of either to suffer that game. Can't envisage that I will ever be attending a 'Tottenham Crawl' though...

Not really, his stamping ground was further east. There was a proposal to do an Aqualung memorial crawl but maybe this is the wrong thread in which to shake that tree.
