I used to deliver there when it was an Italian Resturant , a few pubs seem to have improved , Bear & Billet seems to have a good rep and the newly reopened Commercial Hotel looks worth a visit for the decor alone

On a brighter note it means avoiding the little boys room. How is everything panning out?

A lot better now thanks. No probems since I was discharged, but it's taken a few days to get my head round stuff. Going to have to tighten up my diet a bit, but probably no bad thing!

Good to hear, I can imagine it takes a little bit of work to get your head round it. Hopefully it will turn out to be fairly easy to manage once you find your groove.

We were in the Bear & Billet just before Xmas, it's a regular haunt for us when in Chester.

The Hot Beef baguettes were excellent as usual and the beer is good as well.

With it only being about 100 yards from the Brewery Tap it's where we often finish off our evenings.

I've only visited once in a proper drinking (& racing) capacity and then was somewhat at the mercy of a tour leader who tends toward bottles of Bud, or some such dross, but who, because he lived there for a while and claimed to know the best pubs (he didn't), the rest of the party were happy to follow. Many of them are also happy with banal drinks.
Anyway, at some point I decided I could not waste my entire day and peeled off to look for some from my own list of targets. I failed to write reviews but, looking at others', I think a couple of key venues for good ale selection were Mill Hotel & Harkers Arms.

    It was a good day.

    Default rochester/london/birmingham/whitby

Now the weather is getting better I am planning to tick off some good beer guide pubs in Rochester and then London (Victoria).

Also will be visiting my Mom & Dad near Whitby & hope to taste a beer or two.

Also plan to pop to a couple of central Birmingham pubs after work.
