But The Pelican, Dick Whittington & Fountain all look good.
Brill - I will take a look when down there and spoil the surprise for you by reviewing them first and claiming they have dodgy beer!

The Pelican and Fountain are definites, I wasn't too impressed by the Dick Whittington but may have caught it on a bad day. The Old Crown over the road is a Sam Smiths' Victorian makeover. Their other pub is the Robert Raikes a Tudorbethan restoration. The Pelican is behind the Cathedral and so is handy after making your devotions to Edward II and checking out the amazingly tranquil crypt. The New Inn at the Cross is also a don't miss even though not in the GBG. The Waterway Museum is good as is the Regimental museum but the only pub I found open round there was the mediocre Tall Ships, although I didn't try Foster's on the Docks which looked OK. The Whitesmiths was OK but didn't open lunchtimes and as for the Baker St and Nelson watch your back if you risk a visit. The Gloucester Brewery is also at the back of the docks near the Waterways Museum, but wasn't selling anything on-site. Further on, a long walk away is the fourth GBG pub The Linden Tree which I didn't really think was worth the walk. You could try the Cross Keys and see if it's better or worse than how the Captain, Thuck Phat and I found it. Eastgate St and Westgate St are mainly full of the usual 18-30 bars with one word names and dodgy spelling, the Union was full of drunken Welshmen and not too bad. Come to think of it Gloucester isn't too good for pubs.

Sad to say I agree with this sentiment ,although my visit was two years ago and there may have been some improvement since.Enjoy the famous docks ,it's a great place to moor up and mooch about.

I am advised by Burning Sky brewery that 'Plateau' and 'Aurora' should now be found at Lewis' Snowdrop or Brighton's Evening Star or Prince Albert.
It makes the mission almost too easy!

Who was saying they had a visit to the Kennington Oakham pub imminent?
There's a voucher in Dec/Jan London Drinker for buy one Oakham, get another for £1.50
And since your first will cost you about £4, that's worthwhile....

Wasn't me, but I'm overdue a visit. I'll look out for the LD.

We are off to Dudley beer fest tomorrow and Pig's Ear fest on 3rd. Probably doing Birmingham 6th and Worcester 7th. Nothing else planned till we go to Bruges for a few days over Xmas with Podge beer tours.

Brussels for the day this Sat!, 30/11. Still no idea what beer I might find that i'll properly enjoy, and the task is even harder for my BBB-liking pal.
07/12, £1e/w to Southampton for what should hopefully be a cracking match, surrounded by copious ales.
21/12, hope the Bricklayers has good selection before game at Fulham.
