Got an alert from Eurostar as well, and looking at a day trip to Brussels myself (albeit a month earlier than you). I don't know the city in a beer-wise way too well but, if you're seeking beer out there, you definitely need a copy of CAMRA's Good Beer Guide to Belgium. While it's highly opinionated, there's plenty of good stuff, not least a pretty complete list of breweries and their beers, as well pub & cafe listings for just about every town you're likely to visit. A good investment (and you've got plenty of time to get yours ordered - when I needed mine, I had to dash around West London in search of a copy at very late notice).

We use the Good Beer Guide to Belgium a lot, but the 6th edition out now is 2 - 3 years old, and the next edition is due out. It is still excellent though. Another we take is the 80 beers around Brussels. Very good value.

Rain stopped play a lot while here at Barnard Castle, but we did get a trip into Hartlepool, and went over to the Strathmore Arms at Holwick near Middleton in Teesdale yesterday. Off to York tomorrow so should enjoy a few pubs there as well as the beer festival as we have a few nights stay.

That's awfully tempting but it clashes with a long standing night out in Hertford, sadly.

A trip into Reading tomorrow, Nags head based but may pop down to Caversham and The Fox and Hounds plus a couple of others. And Friday into London planning to take in the inevitable Harp, then on to The Charles Lamb, Wenlock Arms, North Pole, Prince Arthur and Old Fountain. Should be a good day.
