A fantastic week beer wise and at least four beers on my list would normally walk straight into first spot.
    Darkstar Hophead 3/8%
    Darkstar American Pale Ale 4.7%
    Darkstar Six Hop 6.5% *
    Flying Monk Elmer 3.8%
    RCH Chocolate Slug Porter 5.0%
Tring Blue Jay Brown Ale 4.6%
    Cotleigh Nutcracker 3.4%
    Hopcraft Citra Plus 5.4%
    Titanic Stout 4.5%
    Signature Brew Black Tongue 8.4%*
Siren Craft Brew Das Soundwave 5.6 % *
Purple Moose Madogs Ale 3.7 %
Purple Moose Dark Side of the Moose 4.6 %
    Surrey Hills Ranmore Ale 3.8%
Castle Rock Screech Owl 5.5 %
    Elland 1872 Porter 6.5 % *
    Titanic Iceberg 4.1 %
    York Yorkshire Terrier 4.2 %
    Binghams Vanilla Stout 5.0 % *
Binghams Space Hoppy IPA 5.0 %
    Shepherd Neame Master Brew 3.7 % x

I have five very serious contenders for top spot marked thus * and most of the remainder were very good apart from the beer marked x.
Possibly my most difficult decision yet but will fall back on the get out clause of the new (to me) brewer and beer. So despite extreme competition the winner is Signature Brew Black Tongue. Apparently a double black IPA, it is very complex and spot on.
Unfortunately the rest of the month is likely to be much more understated.

A busy week with another one ahead :-

    Banks's Mild 3.5%
    Bateman's Springtime Oatmeal Biscuit 3.6%
    Banks's Mansfield Cask Ale 3.8%
    Hilden Nut Brown 3.8%
    Brodie's London Sunshine Blend 3.9%
    Celt Experience Dark Age 4.0%*
    Mauldon's Lemon Adder 4.0%*
    Fuller's Brit Hop 4.1%*
    Saltaire Juniper Rye 4.2%
    Lancaster Raspberry Rose 4.2%
    Harvey's Old 4.3%
    Banks's Czech Mate 4.4%
    Hyde's Dark Odyssey 4.4%*
    Elgood's Plum Porter 4.5%
    Inveralmond Marzenfest 4.5%
    Wharfebank Black Geld 4.5%
    Conwy Surfin' IPA 4.8%
    Robinson's Trooper 4.8%
    Acorn Black Oak 4.8%*
    RCH Chocolate Slug Porter 5.0%*
    Brodie's Old Street Pale 5.0%*
    Thwaite's Driftwood Pale Ale 5.0%*
    Hopcraft Citra Plus 5.4%*
    Marston's Zeunarts Swedish IPA 5.5%
    Everard's Hildegard Solange 6.0%
    Titanic Iron Curtain 6.0%*
Hopcraft Fault Line Black IPA 6.0%*
    Brodie's Hackney Red IPA 6.1%*
    Wadworth's Klosterbock 6.5%
Adnam's Yeastie Boys Tealeaf IPA 6.5%*
Greene King Double Hop Monster IPA 7.2%*

The two at the front of the marked pack are the Hopcraft Citra Plus and Fault Line although the GK one is close. Both were in perfect nick at £2.60 in the Leyton King William IV. The reality would be to award both beers the gong but as there has to be a winner it's the Black IPA.

    A very odd week

    Roosters - True Grit
    Roosters - 41 South
    Roosters - Liberator
    Roosters - Fort Smith
    Roosters - The Beeching Axe
    Cairngorm - Wildcat
    Conwy - Infusion
    Great Orme - Celtica
    New Plassey - Deep Porter
    Rodhams - Old Albion
    Salamander - Bright Black Porter
    Williams Bros - April Thesis
    Oakham - Inferno
    Rudgate - Jorvik Blonde

A Roosters "tap takeover" and a Scottish/Welsh themed beer festival explain this odd list. The Beeching Axe was a one off special and the Old Albion is probably the last Rodhams beer that will ever be sold as the brewery is now shut, not BOTW though, that's Salamander, Bright Black Porter.

    Poor week,only one pub visited

    Adnams -- Mosaic
    ELB -- Cowcatcher

which was BOTW and a very pleasant American Pale Ale,hoppy with some fruit in Simon the Tanner,Bermondsey.

Next week another visit to downtown Brum, then north towards Stafford so better fare likely.

    A Kentish Saturday:

Musket-Flintlock Best Bitter. A new for me brewery, running since 2013 from Linton near Maidstone.Mid brown, surprisingly hoppy, with some marmalade.Good.
Tonbridge-Coppernob 3.8abv.Some problem with conditioning, but autumnal fruits shone through.
Old Dairy-Gold Top 4.3abv.Gold standard pale ale.
My BOTW-Flintlock BB, a potentially strong player in a crowded market place.

Eurofizz and an acceptable Leffe can't compete with BOTW Oakham Bishops Farewell a couple of pints of which were gratefully quaffed as the week died.

An almost dry week, largely due to elderly relatives descending for thee weekend. Just the two tried, to wash down the excellent pizza, in Tapped Leeds.

    Anarchy - Urban Assault.
    Ashover - Unite Pale Ale.

Both were good, but I thought the UPA delivered great flavour for its relatively low strength.
