    A respectable week.
    Everards -- Tiger
    Marston's -- Old Empire (3PT)
    Nobby's -- Winter Ale
    Potbelly -- Crazy Daze
    Nobby's -- Ralph's Revenge
    Dow Bridge -- Praetorian Porter
    Oakham -- Bishops Farewell
    Newby Wyke -- Kingston Topaz
    Hopping Mad -- Brainstorm
    Acorn -- Winter Pale Ale

Some very decent pints from Northamptonshire micros but BOTW goes to a pint grabbed in haste at the Hamilton Hall with 10 minutes to spare before departure :

    Acorn Winter Pale Ale

Only three different beers tried this week, although some taken in copious amounts.
    Darkstar Hophead
    Darkstar American Pale Ale
Weird Beard Hit The Lights BOTW
A good IPA, but to be honest not as good as I was expecting ,however as a new beer for me ,good enough for BOTW.

A mixed bag with one very new beer :-

    Castle Rock Harvest Pale 3.8%
    Portobello Pale 4.0%
    O' Hanlon's Dry Stout 4.2%
    Barnet Giddy Up 4.3%
    Wychwood Piledriver 4.3%
    Quantock Will's Neck 4.3%
    St Austell Proper Job 4.5%
Wild Card Jack Of Clubs 4.5%
    Wobbley Welder 4.8%
    Brodie's American Brown 4.8%
Adnams / Sixpoint Make It Rain 5.0%
    Brodie's Old Street Pale 5.0%
Wild Card Queen Of Diamonds IPA 5.0%
    Jenning's Snecklifter 5.1%
    Tring Colley's Dog 5.2%
    Hopcraft Citraic 5.4%
    Redemption Big Chief 5.5%
    London Fields Shoreditch Triangle 6.0%

The winner is the Wild Card Queen Of Diamonds IPA, it's an orange rather than straw coloured beer with a strong bitterness that is more akin to british bitter beers than the American style ones even though it does include New World hops. The Citraic and Big Chief were very close contenders.

It was tried in the Wild Card Brewery Taproom for £3.30.

BOTW Wild Card Queen Of Diamonds IPA

Beer near Birch Grove:you've never had it so good...
Larkins-Traditional 3.4%abv. A wonderful session beer, though lacking the toffee noted this time.
Harvey's -Sussex XXXX Old Ale 4.3%abv. Lovely jet black chocolatey dark 'un.
Black Cat -Original 4.2%abv.Brewed across Ashdown Forest at Groombridge, this was new to me. A most impressive brown best bitter.Hoppy with a sweetish malt base Goldings and a Slovenian hop , Celeia. My BOTW.

    eden(st Andrews) -19th brew
    alchemy -onyx

    Not a bad selection:

    Everards - Tiger
    Marstons - Old Empire IPA
    Whittlebury - Amarillo
    J. Church - Cained and Unable
    Oakham - Bishops Farewell
    Dow Bridge - Praetorian Porter
    Newby Wyke - Kingston Topaz
    Hopping Mad - Brainstorm

A tough call with the Cained and Unable, Porter and Brainstorm all being very good. BOTW Julian Church - Cained & Unable brewed by Julian Church in Kettering this looks like a boring brown 4.2% beer but has a delightful bitterness and depth of flavour which are unexpected given its looks and strength.

Decent week for me, managing several sessions.

    Salopian - Spectrum.
    Oldershaw - Grantham Porter.
    Dark Star - APA.*
    Oakham - Citra.*
    Leeds - New Moon.
    Saltaire - South Island Pale.
    Kite - Uncle Sams APA.
    Marble - Interregnum.
    Buxton - Moor Top.*
    Black Edge - IPA.
    Fernandes - Chinook.
    Fernandes - Celeias Gold.
    Ossett - Snowdrop.
Titanic - Choc & Vanilla Stout.
    Fernandes - Bramling Stoker.

Quite surprised to be nominating a Leeds beer out of that list and even more surprising is where it was sampled, the slightly up itself Atlas Pub, in Leeds. Just shows, you have to keep an open mind.
