Default Pubs Galore Worcester Meet Up 21st March 2014

Just been having a look at the pubs we might be going to in Worcester tomorrow with Redditch and Bromsgrove CAMRA. We haven't been for a number of years and things have changed since then.

The meeting place is the Postal Order and they say they are including:
Firefly - Paul Pry - King Charles II - Cardinals Hat. (All new to us).

GBG pubs around the centre are:

    Dragon - Plough.

GBG in St John's area if we get over the river:

Bell - Berkley Arms - Wheatsheaf.

Reckon if you want Worcester for the next PuG crawl, it could well be a grand day as there are many decent pubs around.

    Gill.

I am sure you will have a good time , The Plough appears to be having a lot of building work done at the moment lots of scafolding around it , hopefully it is not closed when you get there .
I really like the Wheatsheaf , great views of the City from the astro-turfed rear patio and theres a footbridge just down the road by the railway viaduct you can use as a short-cut to the Dragon .

Thanks for the tip. I have found the bridge. Not sure what the plan is, but I fancy going over there and wondered what the best way would be. Will see how it goes tomorrow.

That does, indeed, sound like a very good day Gill!
Is the Dragon the same outfit as the Bottom-Wellie in Sheffield then?

The chap that owns the 2 pubs Dragon Worcester and Wellington Sheffield) was drinking in the Paul Pry when we went in. I didn't know who he was at the time. There was a Little Ale Cart beer on in there and I made comment and mentioned Cask And Cutler, and he just said that those words were not allowed. Someone in there told me who he was so I went to say sorry, and we had quite a chat. He said after all he has spent to revert the Sheffield one back to it's original name there are still people calling it Cask and Cutler to wind him up.

Winding Richard up is one of those pleasures that some people just cannot deny themselves. Not me, obviously.

Many thanks to Gill for her excellent research in Worcester and for her quick upload of her reviews. It sounds like there are plenty of interesting pubs to visit in Worcester, many with decent real ale. There has also been a ground swell of support for Worcester at both the last two crawls so lets talk possible dates.

Fridays have proved popular but with the need to book advanced tickets (possible deals on the London Midland network ?) it might be sensible to consider February or March.Any Friday would be fine with me ,apart from the last Friday in each month,Feb 28th,March 28th.

Saturdays are an alternative but football fixtures can get in the way .I couldnt make Feb 8th,22nd,March 8th ,March 29th.

I am sure that once some momentum builds up on this thread,Dave can change the title to show this thread is about an "official" PuG crawl.
