A modest week.

BOTW went to Tillingbourne Hop Troll,which despite the name ,is not some unbalanced citrus monster,but a very quaffable hoppy pale ale in The George,Croydon..Ratebeer and GBG describe it as an APA .It would easily have gone through the three pint test if I didn't have to shoot off for a train to a match where the KO was put back anyway
Next week,a much delayed voyage up the Ashby Canal .Loads of new pubs for me,quite a lot of Marston's action by the look of it.

These were mostly the remains of the Spoons Fest with three untried ones bringing my total to 43 of the 50. A brief visit to the Tap East 2nd Birthday Fest produced a clear winner the Windsor & Eton Irish Conqueror. This is a stronger version of their Conqueror Black IPA that I assume is aged in an Irish Whiskey barrel. It was served on gravity at Tap East for £3.85. The cooling saddles were doing their job as it was a decent temperature and being one of the first pints from the barrel it had plenty of condition.

The Greenhopped was the best and no more left now but disqualified on the three strikes and out rule, having been BOTW thrice already.
So its between The Dogs Bollocks and Apocalypse Cow,
BOTW goes to The Dogs Bollocks by a short nose, or is that snout.

Black Country - Pig on the Wall
A fairly quiet week after last Sunday's 12-pub York crawl. Some interesting beers nevertheless.
Ashover Coffin lane Stout and Fox Brewery's Grizzly Bear, a wheat beer, both in the Chesterfield Alehouse.
A very dry and more-ish Plum Porter from Blakemere Brewery at the Kelham Island Tavern.
Brew Co. Oat Stout at the Mallard on Worksop station.
Dukeries Baronet at the Anchor, Worksop.
Grafton Dark Lady - an aniseed-flavoured porter - and Black Abbots, plus Holly Green from Lincoln Green Brewery of Nottingham, all at the Grafton in Worksop.
Grafton Black Abbots was a drop-dead gorgeous drink: smooth and malty, with a delicious roast barley after-taste. Easily my beer of the week and the Grafton will probably be my pub of the month, too.
