Cooperative pubs

Hi can anyone help? We are considering the possibility of re-opening a local historical pub as a cooperative run by the community. The pub in question is owned by Punch Taverns, does anyone have any suggestions or ideas, we are open to all ideas and suggestions, just don't want to see another little piece of history and community go down the swanee!! This pub http://www.forestersarms-carlton.co.uk/ has been "bought by the community" and is a running concern.I'm not sure whether it is a cooperative or not. Regional enterprise boards, or whatever has replaced them should be able to give advice.

The Anglers Rest in Bamford in the Peak District has recently reopened as a village-owned community pub. Again, not sure if this is classed as a co-operative, but it might be worth your while getting in touch: http://www.anglers-rest.co.uk/.

One of the first community owned pubs was The Red Lion,Preston near Hitchin.Their website is worth reading,and like others have said ,it may be worth getting in touch with them for some friendly advice.It's a great pub.

The Angler's Rest is now owned by the Bamford Community Society, an Industrial and Provident Society for the Benefit of the Community ('bencom'). This means it is owned by shareholders who could receive a (probably nominal) dividend and the structure does provide the protection of limited liability. However, shareholders each have a single vote (irrespective of the number of shares held) meaning that it operates more like a co-operative than a company.
