I've been in a number of very good pubs during August:

The Bell Jar, Sheffield
The Waggon and Horses, Bleasby, in the Trent valley
Just Beer Micropub in Newark
Cheshire Lines Inn in Southport
The Bricklayers Arms and The English Rose in Luton, now that the football season's started
The Mount Pleasant in Norton Lees on the outskirts of Sheffield
The Dukes Head in Highgate, London
The Lamb in Holloway Road, London
The Craft Beer Co. in Islington
The Southampton Arms in Gospel Oak, London
The Blake Hotel in Sheffield
Crown Inn in the Clun valley, Shropshire
The Red Lion in Caersws, Powys
The Tanners Arms near Brecon
King & Castle in Kidderminster

It's not often that I visit a pub that I like better than the Blake, my local, but the last time I was in there all the beers were pale and hoppy, so the excellent Stonehouse Station Bitter allows the Crown at Clunton to sneak through on the rail and get its head in front on the line.
