Default Pub Of The Month - July 2013

Obviously no-one went into any good pubs in July.

We did though and my nomination is going to be Walters in Hull.

Massive range of ale, friendly landlord & customers. Top notch in every way.

POTM for July just has to be The Nags Head,Reading .Not only Quinno's local but also a great example of what can be achieved with some TLC.Ale range and condition place this among the best real ale outlets in the South East, next time in Reading I'm spending a lot longer in here.

I actually visited a few non Spoons pubs last month, but none of them are good enough for this category. I would return to two, but the Crooked Billet in E5 was far too expensive (£4.00 for a 6% pint) and the Warrant Officer didn't have the Wild Card beer on. I want to return to the Warrant Officer as it's the sort of place thar CAMRA want people to support and is making a real effort rather than my nearest pub which is a Heineken abomination. The Crooked Billet is a lower priority.

Salehurst Halt, near Robertsbridge, East Sussex. Classic family run local in tiny village in grand Sussex countryside. Good food, great beer and serious atmosphere.Dog friendly. In sight of hopgardens.

The Crown at St Margarets near Twickenham gets my vote. Some pubs feel right this one does it for me.( I think I have next months best pub sorted as well unless something amazing my way comes.)

Altough the Wild Card brewery are based in the basement of the Warrant they have not started brewing.Their beer is brewed elsewhere.

A clear winner this month. The Old Cock in Otley, is just my sort of place.

The Green Man in Stamford gets the nod from me for the best beer range I found in the town.
