A very sociable week, with plenty of beer. Met 'oldboots', 'sheffield hatter' and 'trainman' on Wednesday, in Otley. Then spent a peripatetic Saturday afternoon with 'sheffield hatter' again, visiting Castleford, Horbury and Ossett. Tried this week:

    Cottage - Boundary.
    Moorhouses - Blond Witch.
Rat - Rat in the Hat.
    Walls - Northallerton Dark.
    WharfeBank - Summer Ale.
    Tetley - Mild.
    Walls - Summer Gold.
    Walls - Gun Dog.
    Acorn - Burning Bails.
    Bingley - Myrtle Velvet Stout.
    Copper Dragon - Best.
    Leeds - Pale.
    Castle Rock - Harvest Pale.
    Thwaites - Nutty Black.
    St Austell - Tribute.
    Briscoe's - Barden Bitter. *
    Kirkstall - North Prototype.
    Thornbridge - Jaywick. *
    Buxton - Rednick Stout.
    Ridgeside - Innuendo.
    Old Bear - Airedale.
Bosun Brewing Co. - Maiden Voyage.*
    Roosters - Yankee.
    Oakham - Endless Summer.
    Partners - IPA.
    Salamander - Bad Penny Porter.
    Fernandes - Simcoe.*
    Pennine - Sun Stone.
    Acorn - Madness.
Five Towns - Davy Jones Locker.

Those beers asterisked were ones I particularly enjoyed, unfortunately only one of them was in Otley. Oakham have another winner in Endless Summer. Fantastic flavour for 3.4% and just the job for a hot sticky afternoon.

Tomislav - a Croatian dark beer, maybe sort of an Old Peculiar for hot climates, drunk amongst other places in a superb locals' bar in Split, appropriately named 'Buza'.

    Rat - Rattus Sambucus.

It doesn't sound too promising as it's made with Elderflower pollen.

However it just works and it was a great pint (or two) in The Baum on a red hot evening.
A pub is for life not just for Christmas
