It surprised me to see McMullens here in Cornwall, not in one pub but two! I hadn't seen them for ages.
Alcohol doesn't solve problems .... but then again, neither does milk.

I think you're lucky to have missed it. Desperately undrinkable the last time I tried it.

BOTW Oakham Bishops Farewell. Acorn Sovereign, although a quality boring brown beer, just wasn't quite good enough.

Steady week for me, with a mostly solid set of beers, but nothing that blew my socks off. Managed to try a couple of new breweries (Glastonbury and Plain), on a flying visit to London, but the beers weren't that great.

    Fullers - Summer Ale.
    Kirkstall - Pale Ale.
    Rat - Black Rat.
    Whitstable - Kentish Reserve.
    Ossett - Sizzler.
    Fernandes - Wakefield Pride.
    Fernandes - Best MILD.
    Fullers - Wild River.
    Glastonbury - Pilton Pop.
    Whitstable - EIPA.
    Plain - Inspiration.
    Westerham SPA.
    XT - 8.

With honorable mentions for the Black Rat and Wakey Pride, this week's winner is Wild River. I'm becoming rather partial to Fullers take on an APA, brewed with Liberty, Cascade, Williamette and Chinook.

Definitely a big improvement on last year's debut offering; this year I got the hops, which seemed so under-played last year.

I think you're right. According to my beer list for 2012 I did actually try it, but don't remember doing so, so it must have been pretty forgettable.

According to the thread Fuller's Wild River, you and I tended to agree on the subject almost a year ago! It's ok - I'm not stalking but I did remember some Wild River related chat from last year.

OK, Paul. Now I'm really worried. It's bad enough not remembering trying the beer (although it was one of over 400 tasted in 2012) but to forget an entire thread... The alcohol induced neurone depletion is happening faster than I thought.

BOTW Saltaire Stateside IPA tried several times in The Old Bell in Harrogate.

A bit of a hefty hoppy beer at 6%, but it went down very well with a trio of venison (steak, sausage & burger).

You need a strong tasting beer to go with a strong tasting meat like venison.

Runner up was Roosters Last Stand also in The Old Bell.
