BOTW goes to Wye Valley HPA in great nick in The Duke of Wellington,Lichfield.I am normally not that keen on sweet pale ales but the interesting apple flavour helped make the HPA a very decent drink.
Next week annual pilgrimage to The Harp should produce candidates for BOTW ,although the pre Wembley visit to The Euston Tap could as well.
"Good people drink good beer" Hunter S Thompson
Norfolk, Suffolk,Kent.
Brandon Brewery-Saxon Gold: 4% ABV peppery golden ale, served on a dull Monday a touch on the cold side.
Adnams-Ghost Ship:4.5%ABV. It's Adnams, but not as we know it. Crisp and grapefruit.
Adnams-Fat Sprat:3.8%ABVGoldings pepperyness and Yank citrus, a deep malt ground base; a very new seasonal classic.
Colchester Brewery-Double Brown Ale4.4%ABV Dark, ruby, chocolately. A bit on the sweet side, but a good MILD for May.
Rother Valley-Ruby Wheat4.4%ABV.I haven't had much exposure to wheat beer, so didn't know what to expect. Pleasant enough.
I've drunk Adnams beers for over 40 years, and have rarely had a bad 'un, but now they seem to be firing on all cylinders. My BOTW, and on the BOTY list-Adnams Fat Sprat.
"At that moment I would have given a kingdom, not for champagne or hock and soda, or hot coffee but for a glass of beer" Marquess Curzon of Kedlestone, Viceroy of India.
Only been in my local this week who now have a Darkstar beer on nearly all the time due to its increasing popularity, so this makes my BOTW rather predictable ,the same as last week Darkstar American Pale Ale
Also tried this week,
Darkstar Hophead
Hogsback TEA
Vale Brill Gold
Ringwood Old Thumper
