    Three reasonable Milds this week,
    Vale Black Swan
    Nottingham Rock Mild
Aylesbury Brewhouse M.A.N. (Mild and Nutty)
    also,
    Milk Street Gulp IPA
but BOTW goes to a regular winner for me,
Darkstar American Pale Ale, when its in good condition ,which it was this week ,it takes some beating.

Awful week ,work got in the way.

    BrewDog -Punk IPA (bottle)
    BrewDog -5AM Saint (bottle)
    Oakham - Bishops Farewell

Had the Bishop's been in good nick it would have won BOTW,but sadly The Boot,St Albans didn't oblige so BOTW goes to BrewDog 5AM Saint from Mr Sainsburys.

Boat in for repairs (windows this time) in Lichfield,so sander and paint brush to the ready for a much needed spruce up ,and of course a tour around the fine watering holes of that city.Any of our West Midland correspondents around there later in the week, please PM me if your up for a beer.

    Goacher's Saturday

Real MILD Ale 3.4abv: perhaps near the end of the barrel.Very drinkable though.
Best Dark Ale (aka Original) 4.1abv. A dark, rich and earthy beer with underlying hops. My BOTW

    Choices this week:
    Saltaire Blonde
    Oakham Bishops Farewell
    Dukeries de Lovetot
    Titanic Chocolate and Vanilla Stout
    Hambleton Nightmare

All very drinkable and the Chocolate and Vanilla Stout was, as ever, extraordinary. BOTW was Hambleton Nightmare, a thoroughly drinkable and smooth 5% stout from a brewery new to me. A revelation and I'll look out for their ales in the future.

Quietish week for me, with nine tried:

Wentworth - Choc & Chilli Stout.
    Ossett - Northern Lights.
Fernandes - Ale to The Tsar.
    Ossett - Treacle Stout.
    Oakham - Citra.
Brew Co. - Crazy Horse IPA.
Salamander - Full of Iron Stout.
    Great Heck - Dave.
    Ilkley - Black MILD.

With honorable mentions for the Crazy Horse and Treacle Stout, the stand out beer was the Citra.

More of a normal week this time :-

    Brentwood Burton Ale 4.8%
East London Brewing Co Jamboree 4.8%
    Titanic Nautical Mild 4.8%
    Milestone Olde English Ale 4.9%
    Brodie's Old Street Pale 5.0%
    Portobello American Pale Ale 5.0%
    Welton's Chanctonbury Ring 5.6%
    Welton's Persian Princess 6.0%
Brodie's Oyster Tea Stout (Keykeg) 7.0%
Brodie's Big Mofo Stout (Keykeg) 10.5%

It's a contest between Keykeg Brodie and Welton but the Chanctonbury Ring at £2.60 in the Wanstead George gets the nod. This is a golden ale with a complex flavour, I thought there may be honey in it. It's named after the famous South Down ring of trees that received an untimely trim during the Great Storm of 1987.

Apparently Weltons have made an Oatmeal Stout in the past with a similar name but this is definitely not it!
