A quiet week with the only beer drunk, BOTW Oakham Bishops Farewell, a worthy winner.

A solid session in a Fuller's pub had Black Cab Stout leading the field, but pipped at the post by Dark Star Six Hop Ale in The George ,Croydon ;a DS monthly special. At 6.5% not something you can just tip back, but a great hop sensation and the pint went down quicker than I initially expected.

Next week looks like a corker, boating back to Leicester and then some Blue Monkey action in Loughborough

After two publess weeks, several visits, but varied quality:
Goody Ales-Bleangate Brewery: Good Health.Quite aggresively hopped, stone fruit.Good.
Shepherd Neame:Early Bird. A few hops in there somewhere.
Harveys: Sussex Best Bitter. Tired. Note to self-try not to drink this except in a Harveys tied house.
St Austell: Tribute. Workmanlike, but why fetch it all the way to Kent, when we could be drinking Incubus?
Black Country:Bradley's Finest Golden. Another piney/citrussy Golden Ale. Why fetch it all the way to Kent?
Rother Valley: Level Best.Biscuity, earthy, a bit hoppier than when I used to drink this back in the '90s. Good stuff.
A toss up between the Goody and the Rother, but on reflection my BOTW is Goody Ales Good Health, if only because it is a Kentish ale drunk in Kent, rather than a Sussex beer drunk in Kent.

Easy winner- Darkstar American Pale Ale

If you think I've spent the Easter weekend in the William IV for the Easter festival then you would be right!

I must say that the non-Brodie's offerings elsewhere did provide very strong opposition.

    Brodie's Peanut Butter Mild 3.6%
    Sambrook's Junction 4.5%
    O'Hanlon's Port Stout 4.8%
    Sambrook's Powerhouse Porter 4.9%
    Brodie's Old Street Pale 5.0%
    Brodie's Centennial Pale 5.0%
    Brodie's Nelson Pale 5.0%
    Brodie's Mosaic Pale 5.0%
    Brodie's Simcoe Pale 5.0%
    Brentwood's Jolly Decent Wallop 5.2%
    Kent Brewery Enigma 5.5%
    Brodie's Caramel Salt Beer 6.0%
    O'Hanlon's Diablo 6.0%
Black Jack Four of a Kind 6.8%
    Brodie's Dopple Dunkle Wheat 6.9%
    Brodie's Dalston Black 7.0%
    Brodie's Cranberry IPA 7.0%
    Brodie's Superior London Porter 7.8%
    Brodie's Mocha Stout 9.0%
Brodie's Mocha Stout (Rum Barrel) (keykeg) 9.0%
Brodie's Mocha Stout (Port Barrel) (keykeg) 9.0%
    Brodie's Romanov Stout 12.1%
    Brodie's Elizabethan 22.0%

The winner is a keykeg offering namely the Rum Barrel aged Mocha Stout. The Rum barrel ageing just gave this the edge over the rest including the Port barrel aged one. It was £3.30 at the King William IV in Leyton.

Quite a long list to choose from

    Roosters True Grit
    Ridgeside Rushmore
    Copper Dragon Black Gold
    Abbeydale Absolution
    Roosters Wild Mule
    Kirkstall Dissolution IPA
    Roosters Londinium
    Thornbridge Kipling
    Magic Rock Rapture
    Belhaven Stout
    Caledonian Drydock
    Pheonix White Monk
    Saltaire Triple chocoholic
    Rudgate Chain Mail

Mostly good apart from the disappointing Rushmore from the usually reliable Ridgeside, but BOTW is Kirkstall Dissolution (again)
